In the mid to late 80′s, Hockney made use of computers, colour photocopiers and fax machines to create artwork.
1985 commissioned to draw with the Quantel Paintbox, a computer program that allowed the artist to sketch direct onto the monitor.
1989 sends work for the Sao Paulo Biennale to Brazil via fax. experiments with computers, composing images and colours on the monitor and printing them directly from the computer without proofing.
1990 works at Tyler Graphics Ltd. on six new prints. Makes color laser printed photographs from his vacation snaps of Alaska and England1991 makes computer drawings on his Mac II FX computer using Oasis software by Timearts.
1993 continues research with color laser printed photographs from color slide pictures of travels to Japan, Scotland, and England
1997 networking: Art By Post And Fax, Hayward Gallery, London
2009 exhibits at L.A. Louver in February and at Annely Juda Fine Art, London, in May, his inkjet printed computer drawingsPrehistoric Museum
